Premium Serviced Workspace in London

THE BRIEF

This premium serviced workspace in fashionable Fitzrovia was once a 1930s textile warehouse. A bold and beautiful art-deco inspired interior design pays homage to the building’s heritage with an emphasis on both fashion and sustainability throughout. This exceptional space features state-of-the-art offices, a suite of tech-enabled meeting rooms, a wellbeing studio, secure cycle storage and an Innovation Lab available for private hire.

Working closely with the client, and as part of the project team, our aim was to understand the client’s aspirations for the design and to create sympathetic plant designs that tell the English art-deco inspired story, staying true to the design and sustainability ethos, through creative planting.

We installed the planting to tight deadlines and will continue to maintain it with ongoing horticultural care.

THE SOLUTION

The art deco interior design features a vibrant colour palette in the main communal area, where a large central feature of a planting trough within circular banquette seating was particularly important. Clever use of mixed planting helps to bring it quite literally to life with a verdant variety of planting: ivy, eucalyptus and cordyline were chosen as an interesting juxtaposition of leaf shape and texture.

The aim was to add a unique ‘home away from home’ workplace experience and a sense of wellbeing. The ivy and cordyline remain true to the planting of the era.

The coffee bar, featuring ceiling planting, was a fundamental part of the design and the perfect way to add an abundance of planting to create the sense of a serene oasis.  The suspended metal racking was filled with troughs of trailing foliage of differing shades for maximum impact.

Throughout the scheme, planting plays a central part of the design story, adding an extra level of luxury and impact, from low- and high-level trough displays to smaller plants in decorative pots, dotted about the area. The result is a vibrant, exciting, and elevated space which surely must be one of the most beautiful and covetable workspaces in all of London.
