When global food and agriculture company Cargill brought its London and Weybridge teams together in a new King William Street workplace, the opportunity was to create an office that felt collaborative, welcoming and unmistakably connected to its agricultural heritage.
Planteria designed and installed a layered planting scheme across the seventh floor, helping bring warmth, life and natural texture to a modern workplace with exposed services, timber joinery and a rich palette of greens.
Rather than confining planting to a few statement areas, the scheme was designed as a consistent thread through the employee experience.
From the moment visitors arrive, large floorstanding displays soften the reception space and complement Cargill’s natural-material finishes. In the open-plan neighbourhoods, planting is integrated into existing cabinet-top liners, creating a greener backdrop to everyday work without taking up valuable floor space.
Across the workplace, smaller displays add personality to shelves, touchdown areas, meeting rooms and social spaces. Taller trees and foliage plants punctuate shared areas and window lines, bringing a softer, more relaxed feel to the office.
One of the scheme’s focal points is the suspended racking above the hydration station. Here, trailing replica planting creates a lush overhead feature, adding impact and softness in a location where live planting would be impractical to maintain.
Elsewhere, the scheme combines different display heights, plant forms and container finishes to work naturally with the office design. Deep greens, earthy terracottas, textured neutrals and colourful accents complement the timber, upholstered seating and hospitality-inspired spaces.
The live displays were installed in Planteria’s Ecoponic substrate, with the scheme designed for ongoing professional maintenance.
The completed space brings together extensive greenery, social settings, collaboration spaces and focused work areas. Planting helps turn the office from a functional new home for two teams into a workplace with character, comfort and a stronger connection to Cargill’s identity.
