Accord Healthcare

As part of a complete refurbishment of their UK headquarters, Accord Healthcare partnered with Planteria Group to bring biophilia to the forefront of the workplace experience. Working directly with Accord’s in-house team rather than through a third-party FM, Planteria delivered a full package including design, supply, installation and ongoing maintenance.

Accord’s objective was clear. The planting needed to be purposeful, visually striking, and in line with the company’s identity and commitment to staff wellbeing. Every element had to support the wider refurbishment vision while delivering functional value across the space.

A Design-Led, Brand-Driven Approach

the project

Planting was embedded into the architectural layout from the start. Bespoke joinery featured integrated troughs across both floors, including locker banks, booth seating, and curved feature walls. Planteria worked closely with Accord to select species that complemented the natural materials and accent colours used throughout the building.

Foliage choices were not generic. Key species such as Philodendron Prince of Orange, Croton ‘Mrs Iceton’, and Aglaonema Matcha Lemon were chosen to echo Accord’s brand palette. The final mix combined visual energy with structure and texture, creating a cohesive and uplifting planting language throughout the building.

Signature Features

  • Reception Impact: The entrance planting forms the visual anchor of the scheme. Layered troughs beneath the illuminated Accord signage and a flowing bowl display at the reception desk set a calm and welcoming tone. The layout complements both the joinery and the brand message on the wall.
  • Central Tree Feature: A 5-metre Carpoxylon palm was installed at the heart of the workspace. Planted into a large circular bench, this specimen brings natural height and movement into the centre of the office, selected carefully for both aesthetics and light compatibility.
  • Breakout Zones and Soft Screening: Planting was used to support acoustics and define zones without blocking light or line of sight. Booth seating features vibrant, structured planting that adds a sense of privacy while tying into the wider biophilic scheme.
  • Freestanding Displays: Large format planters in natural finishes soften the architectural edges and add a grounded, organic feel to glazed meeting rooms and circulation routes.

Results That Speak for Themselves

Since completion, the planting has become the most remarked-upon feature of the workspace. Staff feedback includes comments such as “the planting is the biggest talking point of the new office.” The environment feels more alive, more personal, and more aligned with Accord’s values.

To build on this success, the Engage & Bloom team will return for the launch day.  Our team will run a plant giveaway session for employees. This activation reinforces the connection between the natural environment and individual wellbeing, while encouraging a sense of care and ownership.

This project shows how intelligent planting can become an asset to both design and operations. Planteria provided a smooth, end-to-end service, coordinating seamlessly with Accord’s internal stakeholders and joinery suppliers. The result is a workspace that feels calm, energised, and complete.

From functional screening to emotional impact, the scheme delivers across multiple levels. For managers planning new workspaces or refurbishments, this project offers a clear benchmark for what good looks like.

more than plants

This project reflects Planteria’s belief that planting should be part of the experience. From early-stage strategy to final install, we helped shape something people remember.
